Role
Lead Designer
Nebula was an independent proof-of-stake blockchain built with Vega Protocol software to power a consumer-focused derivatives trading platform.
It launched following a community vote to retire the Vega chain and refocus on the protocol development.
The work
I needed to quickly transform Vega's single-brand component libraries into a flexible white-label structure that could support multiple brand implementations.
Leveraging Figma modes and variables, I evolved the existing design system to enable dynamic brand switching, working closely with developers to define the technical requirements.
In parallel, I developed Nebula's visual design and designed new features that didn't exist in Vega Console such as the markets list and market creation flows.
The outcome
The project embodied the reality of startups, working quickly with imperfect information under compressed timelines.
The white-label system enabled Nebula to launch in September 2024 as the first project built on Vega's software. Less than four months later the project shut down, but the design infrastructure laid the groundwork for future projects wanting to build on the protocol.
